2016 LAND ROVER ICE CUP
If I could name one event our clients and guests always look forward to every year it would be the annual Land Rover Ice Cup. HANDS DOWN! No one really remembers exactly when the Land Rover Ice Cup first took place; Depending on who you ask it was either 2003 or 2004. Since then, the event has taken place every year on the thick ice of Georgetown Lake. Well, almost every year. 2015 was the first time we had to cancel the event as it was deemed unsafe. The 2016 event had us on edge as the weeks leading up to the event were unusually warm; Luckily for us, the weather was cold enough and held out long enough to produce a hair over 18 inches of ice for us to play with.
The Land Rover Ice Cup provides drivers the opportunity to test their skills and demonstrate the advance capabilities of their Land Rover while navigating through the dog bone shaped course. Each driver is placed into one of two categories: All-Season Tire Class and Snow Tire Class. From there, participants will have three attempts to lay down their fastest time to see who is the king or queen of the ice. Once everyone has had their runs we all partake in eating a traditional bowl of green and red chili prepared by Janette and her staff of the Happy Cooker (//www.happycookerrestaurant.com/).
Some may view the Land Rover Ice Cup as a competition (and rightfully so), ultimately, this event is for our guests to come out and to have a great time with fellow Land Rover fanatics. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as the staff did! We’re already looking forward to 2017.
I would like to thank you and all the staff for a really fun day last Sunday, our family had a blast and loved the day. The staff were all so friendly and the event was really well organized, we are really looking forward to the next event.
We would like to give thanks to the following vendors and partners for helping out with pulling out all the stops to make the 2016 Land Rover Cup another memorable event:
